As I mentioned last week, many of my clients are posting to their blogs on a regular basis and finding them a great way to add a more informal and personal touch to their website. And, as a bonus, they are enjoying more traffic hits to their site, because the search engines are very fond of fresh content.
I thought it would be fun to highlight some of my client blogs this week to give you an idea of the different ways diverse companies are using blogs.
Logoprinters.com offers custom logo imprinted promotional merchandise. The owner is a very creative marketer who works closely with clients to come up with very unique and fun promotional products. Having recently gone through a site redesign and new domain switch, my client wanted a quick way to entice the search engines to visit and list his site. He also wanted a quick and easy way to post his own content, to promote special offers and share creative promotional ideas with his clients. So, we created his “Idea Blog” at http://logoprinters.com/blog/.
Helly New England (http://www.hellynewengland.com/) has the original online Helly Hansen store, and strives to keep his site and products at the top of the search engine list. Their blog (http://hellynewengland.com/blog/) is great at highlighting upcoming events and promotions for the store and to share photos of the staff at play on the ski slopes and on the water.
Helly New England is also the official merchandise sponsor for the FV Northwestern, one of the Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch crab fishing boats. A separate website, http://hellyhansennorthwestern.com/ has its own blog (http://www.hellyhansennorthwestern.com/blog/) to announce special appearances and autograph signings of the shows stars, Sig Hansen and Edgar Hansen. This blog is extremely active, and is kept fresh with new photos of the cast at local signings and from the show.
Chef Bill (http://www.chefbill.com/ is a personal chef who offers unique services such as romantic dinners and cooking lesson parties in additional to his personal chef services. Chef Bill’s blog “Food for Thought” (http://www.chefbill.blogspot.com/) is a journal of his cooking life with recipes, anecdotes and his unique philosophy on cooking and healthy living.
Island Sports (http://www.islandsports.com/) is a water action sports store in Newport Rhode Island that is a must visit stop for surfers and windsurfers. They have a very unique blog (http://www.islandsports.com/blog/ ) that is written to daily… it’s a Surf Report of the Newport Beach right across the street from the store.
As you can see, the key to blogging is creative posting the speaks to your particular site’s audience base. By writing about the things you and your visitors are passionate about, you create a unique bond with your visitors and keep them coming back to read more about what you are up to. So, get blogging!
